Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial Osteopathyimg_cranial_osteopathy

Cranial osteopathy was developed by Dr William G Sutherland in the early 20th century.

The human skull is not merely one solid, immovable bone but in fact 22 bones that are joined together like a very complicated three dimensional jigsaw puzzle.

Sutherland hypothesised that the cranial bones, sacrum, brain, spinal cord and the membranes around them all possess subtle and differing movements that, with practice can be felt (palpated). He also contended that any abnormal movements can be identified and corrected using a number of subtle treatment techniques.

Many musculoskeletal conditions can be treated using Cranial Osteopathy including treatments to children. Very often a combination of structural and Cranial Osteopathy is the most appropriate and effective treatment method.
